This team includes the inventors of the first light-based therapy technology for cosmetic applications such as hair removal, skin rejuvenation and acne. This group of talented scientists are also responsible for the first patents and the first FDA approvals for this sector of medical devices.
In 2002 the University of Swansea’s Head of Medical Devices Professor Clement joined forces with Jan Simonsen, the Danish founder of Bang & Olufsen’s little-known but important medical device division. Mike Kiernan who had developed laser technologies with Professor Clement for many years also came on board and Kevin Smith brought commercial skills to the team.
Ron Petersen joined CyDen as CEO in 2004 to steer
the company’s global expansion. This has been extremely successful
with a distribution network spanning more than 60 countries set up
in just two years.
